Our Teachers

Chelsea Wylde
Founder, Manager

With a natural tone and grace, Chelsea has a voice that is highly sought after. Regular appearances at The Ellington Jazz Club led her to performing with Lior, Nigel Westlake, WASO, House Gospel Choir and Fatai as well as working with seasoned writers, producers and musicians in Los Angeles on the beginning stages of her first solo release. Her single Truth is now available on her website www.chelseacullen.com

Shaun Cowe
Drums

With five years teaching and over a decade performance experience, Shaun studied jazz music at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts and writes as a music journalist for national publications alongside his teaching. He believes in a holistic approach to music education, teaching students how to play in bands and prepare for auditions. His lessons have a strong onus on getting students to write music, to break down and understand music using their ears, and prepare advanced students for booking performances and networking in the music industry.

Shanay Cullen
Administration

Often working behind the scenes at DRSoM, Shanay is gifted at making everything and everyone look good through her organisation skills. Shanay is sweet and caring and known for her listening ear. She is famous for her delicious baked goods that she brings to the weekly community choir rehearsals, and is extremely musically talented herself in singing and guitar!

Sam Wylde
Piano

With a Bachelor of Composition under his belt, being a five-time WAM Song of the Year nominee and the winner of the Robert Juniper Award for the Arts should come as no surprise. Sam doesn't just spend his time winning awards though, he has been teaching privately and in primary schools; as well as producing and engineering local artists; and writing, recording and performing his own work.

Angus Cunningham
Guitar, Banjo

Specialising in finger-style acoustic guitar and contemporary electric guitar, Angus has performed in numerous Perth bands, including Bedouin Sea. Having played as a support act for Matt Corby, Jinja Safari and Art of Sleeping on their national tours, he is no stranger to performing. Angus has performed as a solo artist at the Perth Concert Hall and has toured internationally to South Africa to play before band aKING and also perform a headline tour.

Brooke Wilson
Voice, Violin, Choir

Don't let her Bachelor of Classical Music fool you, Brooke's musical range extends to pop, folk, jazz, soul and blues too. Her sublime violin skills are oft-used in orchestras and ensembles, while another string to her bow is directing, arranging and conducting choirs and vocal groups. Brooke also loves to teach and has a Bachelor of Education and the extensive experience in numerous schools to prove it.

Paul van Nimwegen
Production

With orchestral performances at the Sydney Opera House, to electronic performances at nightclubs in Perth, Paul is a diverse musician with much to offer. Alongside winning the Perth Dance Music Awards for 'Best New Talent', Paul plays several different instruments including Trumpet, Guitar and Piano. He produces compositions electronically in a variety of genres, ranging from classical orchestral arrangements to heavy dubstep.

Do you love to sing? Do you want to do it just for fun? Then our Community Choir is perfect for you! No singing or music-reading experience is required either!

Besides singing great jazz, blues, pop, gospel and folk songs, you'll learn improvisation and harmonisation; improve your rhythm, ear and pitch; and build confidence. It's musicality and fun combined!

We meet on Wednesday nights from 7:00-8:30pm during School terms (with a break for tea and coffee!) You are free to join us at anytime during the term.

Each night is $10 per person.
